Culminating Blog Reflection

Lack of communication was the biggest challenge that my mentor and I encountered. He seems always busy with his class. I am a shy person. I wasn't able to ask him a lot of question that I had during the courses. To overcome this challenge, I tried to contact my mentor through E-mail. And it works well.

When I was doing the research paper, I procrastinated a lot. I waited until the last minute to turn in the paper . After the paper, I learned not to procrastinate. During the practice presentation, I noticed that sometimes I can do something really well, but I don't believe in myself. I always think I would make mistake. I tried to become more self-confident, and I need to stop being shy. I tried to speak louder and make eye contact with people. I hope I can do well in my final presentation of Capstone project.

I think collaboration is really important to me in this project. During the guitar class, I need to work with collaborate with people to make a song sound right. I also need to collaborate with my mentor to get many stuff done for this project.

I learned that I do not want to be a guitarist nor a musician. I can play music as a hobby, but not as a career. I can not see myself making money by playing guitar, but I really enjoy playing it. I am glad that I chose guitar as the topic for my project. =D

5-4-2013 6th meeting. Total hour:18

Today I complete 3 hours with my mentor. I learned about different right hand techniques, sweep, brush, scratch and percussive effect. I practice more song with the chords. I really need to practice more. I think guitar is fun!

4-27-2013 5th meeting. Total hour: 15

I spend 3 hours with my mentor today. =D. My mentor showed me how to play 12 bar blues backup. I also learned how to play Jungle Bell on guitar. I have some trouble with changing chords. I found guitar is a fun instrument to play. Love it!

4-6-2013 4th meeting. Total hour: 12

Today I did 3 hours with my mentor. I learned about Chromatic scales and how it works on the major scales. I also learned a few new chords. My mentor gave me some more music to practice the new chords.
My mentor is a great guitarist!! I love him!!!! I really need to spend time to practice more.!

3-23-2013 3rd meeting. Total hour: 9

Today I work with my mentor for 3 hours. I learned about some different chords. My mentor gave me some simple song to practice and get familiar with the chords. I think it is really cool, because I could play a song with just one or two simple chords. I need to practice.!

3-9-2013 2nd meeting. Total hour: 6

Today I competed 3 hour with my mentor. He taught me how to read the chord chart and finger positions. I also learned about the names of the notes of the open strings and how they are written on the staff. I think the chord chart is pretty easy to understand and the notes are a little bit difficult to memorize. Anyways, it was fun. =D

2-16-2013 1st meeting. Total hour: 3

I meet with my my mentor for 3 hours today. I learned about how to hold the guitar properly. I also learned how to use the pick. Guitar is harder that I thought. After 3 hours of class, my hands were numb and my fingers started to hurt. I think I like it.=D

IT'S TOMORROW

I will be meeting my mentor tomorrow. In fact, I met my mentor last Saturday, but I forgot to bring the contract.(>_<) ..It will be 9 to12 a.m. It is going to be three hours =D.. I will be learning the basic of guitar. It might hard for me but I think I'll love it. Yay Guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fiscal Cliff Response

      The position of the Republicans of the "fiscal Cliff" is that they oppose to get to the debt ceiling by increasing the tax. They are confident that the debt ceiling will not be different. One the other hand, Democrats think Republicans are making a huge error: They’re giving Democrats a tax increase now assuming they won’t have to handle another one later.
      The way I found my sources is by searching "Fiscal Cliff Republicans position " and "Fiscal Cliff Democrats positon" on the News tab. In additional, I also tried to seach the same thing in Chinese so I could understand better.
